Getting Started

There are two versions of Lockout.Live:

lockout.live

The main site can be found at lockout.live.

This is the most stable & tested, and is typically a version or two behind the beta.

beta.lockout.live

The beta site can be found at beta.lockout.live.

This has the latest features & modes being tested, but may be less stable.

Lockout.Live works best on a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, etc.). Helium is a great lightweight option if you want something purpose-built.

Firefox works but has some quirks, like shift + right click always opening the context menu (see the Firefox workaround on the Playing the Game page).

From the home page, configure your board and click Generate Board to get started.

Example Board

The game you want to play. This changes the available objective sets.

Which objective set to use. Most games have one default set, but some offer alternatives like streamlined (quicker version) or beginner (easier version).

The game mode to play. See Game Modes for more information.

The board size. Available sizes depend on the game mode. Some modes like Bingo and Ascend support preset square sizes (3×3 up to 10×10) as well as custom rectangular sizes within those bounds. Other modes have fixed sizes (Rush is always 90 goals, Summit has preset pyramid sizes).

Some goal sets may restrict the maximum size based on how many objectives they have.

Choose between Count Up (no time limit) or Count Down with a configurable duration. Count Down offers presets (30m, 1h, 2h, 3h) or a custom time using hours and minutes.

The default depends on the mode.

The seed for the board. If left blank, a random seed is generated automatically.

Seeds can have refresh numbers, indicating how many times the seed was refreshed for a new board. For example, MV2XRO:4 means the seed MV2XRO refreshed 4 times. You can paste or type a seed with its refresh number (e.g. seed:refresh).

Toggle to show additional options:

  • Modifiers: Toggle game modifiers for the board. See Game Modifiers.
  • Password: Protect the board with a password. Other players will be prompted to enter it when joining.
  • Server: Which server hosts the game. Other players joining will use the same server automatically. This mainly affects latency for multiplayer interactions.

You can invite players to your game by going to the Settings tab and clicking the Copy Invite Link button.

Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut C to copy the invite link to your clipboard, if you have keyboard shortcuts enabled in the App Settings.
